been really spending alot lately. huge sighs.
shopping, chilling, movieING, eating, snacking. yalah, all the INGs.
best part of them: it's called enjoying life man.
and the worst part: im broker then broke now. understand? means broke until cannot broke. still dont get it? walan, means
POK GAI LA!
:(btw, went town last night with pearlin, yanfang and hazel. and while we were indulging our yummy-looking desserts and ice-creams in cafe cartel, i came across sort of a phrase in their menu. it says something like the word "stressed" is actually a mirrored version of the word "desserts", the first says negative, and the latter shows positive. guess its trying to say whenever we're feeling stressed out, we could just indulging ourselves in yummy desserts and then all the stress will go away!
:)but then again, dont think it works for everybody. loser. i ate soo much, yet
its still not going away. it only hides in further so nobody could see. well, if that counts..
there comes a day when you cant take it anymore, you just run. away. from everything. everyone.

"so others may live"watched
"the guardian" over at the cathay on saturday. a rather heart-warming story of courageous rescue swimmers who go almost all out to save the lives of others.
how do we define true heroes these days. i guess they're no longer the typical muscular/handsome type who fly across the buildings to catch you in midair. to me, they're people who put others in front of self, always. its never easy man, we just knew it. there are many a times when we're forced into situations whereby we've to make decisions and the very first thought that usually comes to our minds is to protect our own self-interest. it may sound really selfish, and almost all of us are guilty of that. but then again, its only part of human nature and i guess we couldnt really control that thought. nevertheless, i still do believe that most of us do practise the second thought. yes i mean we do try and look at the situation again, maybe from another point of view, and this time we take into consideration the impacts of our decisions on our surroundings.
but then again, trying is one thing, and action is always another.
so well, we all knew that it aint easy to gather the courage to sacrifice, be it for our friends or loved ones, and especially for people whom we dont even know or met before. the weighing process of self and others may seems to be really easy for people who cares for themselves only. for some others, there seems to be an internal struggle, others or self?
"i love him/her too much to let go, yet arent myself just as important too?". well, if you find yourself falling into this category, go ahead and give yourself an encouraging pat on your shoulder. you're among the common stream and you have the heart. well, at least you bother to think about others, which i believe most of us do, except for some selfish irritating nuts out there.
but for a really rare group of people, their first thought wasnt themselves, but was that of others. just like the characters in the movie
"the guardian", who played as
'rescue swimmers' which is part of the amercian coast guard team. their dangerous yet holy task was to rescue every possible victims of shipwrecks or any other sea accidents. and hey its not the easy rescue task type of sitting in boats or helicopters and just fishing the victims up from the vast sea. it involves not only skills and expertises, calm minds and experience but also tonnes of courage and heart which not every you and i would possess. now imagine you looking down from the swaying rescue helicopter, the sea is not calm but raging with hard and high waves accompanied with blasting winds. and among all these, you managed some blur traces of survivors. and at this time, your captain says the helicopter is running out of fuel soon and so you seriously dont have much time left. with the pressure of thin fuel, running-sand time and handful of struggling hopes in the waters, what would you do? do you put all things aside and jump straight into the waters with just one focus, to save all of them up to your best. or would you assume that you wouldnt have the enough time to save all of them up, and so you think you just can save one or two of them and leave the rest to fate? or would you abandon them halfway through the mission?
"who are we to decide over the fate of others. whether they live or otherwise, we still have to try. at least to our very best."at this thin line of life and death, hestistation can kill. remember, they're down there with diminishing hopes that they're gonna live, and your a-little-more hestistation will kill time and at the same time, their hope too. so what do you do? abandon them halfway in fear of the whole helicopter and your whole team might crash into the seas due to out-of-fuel? but then what would happen to them, if you decide to go back, they dont even have the chance to live, you will take it away with you. or do you go all out to save all of them, even if it means putting your whole team on risk of crashing into the seas altogether. its gonna be a difficult decision surely.
the rescue swimmers' decision? well, its gonna be : "when lives are on the line, sacrifice everything".
