goodbye 2008.

hello 2009.

2008, an eventful year, an adventurous ride.

did you manage to hang on smoothly or topple over already?

the beijing olympics games came earlier on to give china and rest of the world a big show on its ability to bring in crowds and not forgeting the spending too. it brought the world together, irregardless of place, race, religion and nationality, we were all together at that moment. i must praised china for a job well done, from the event preparations to building of the magnificent bird nest to the opening of the olympics games especially, it had achieved something that i believe london 2012 would almost be impossible to achieve : to articulate the great chinese culture successfully across people of the world within the opening show alone. to summarise, it was a show never before this.

unexpectedly, the high notes dropped drastically following news of falling lehman brothers and other financial giants. or maybe the tragedy could already be on the waiting list, but not yet known to the world at then. and when the spark finally ignites, it couldnt stop itself, rolling into a giant fire ball hitting everywhere and still doesnt seems likely to stop anytime near. more banks and financial companies declared bankcrupt, the likes of big shot MNCs appealing desperately for cash injection from govt, SMEs crying out loud for help with debts and cashflow crisis and of course, citizens suffering from rising living costs and constant fear for loss of job. the financial crisis at this time are expected to go on further and nobody dare to predict when it'll really end, but only to expect unemployment to rise and more companies to fall. seriously, nobody expected things to turn out so badly just overnight. we're still recovering from the state of shock, struggling with the facts, trying to move on from the rubbles and constantly praying for the better, always. i guess this will take some time, but i believe we can do it.

2008 has been a year of ups and down for me. i did my final university examinations and scored well enough for a good second upper honours. i felt relieved that my hardwork paid off as well offer my sincere thanks for all those that prayed for me and the blessings given. i gave good shots at finding job as a fresh graduate, but found out that the markets are shrinking badly and that my health may not be as good as i thought.

ups and downs. relief and disappointment. i had them all. i even tasted the most down time of my years, being lost in the forest and couldnt find any ray of lights at all. every route dont seems right, some even leading me halfway through before showing me the deadend. its frustrating, tiring and really draining on faith and confidence. i tried to be strong, be positive, i tried everything. and of cos, i will continue to stay brave. if others could handle even worst situations in life, why cant i handle this?

let us all pray sincerely, that 2009 will be for the better.
